Wilshire Group are committed to improving the sustainability of the way we build our homes. We are already using Green Gorilla bins for all site waste. These bins differ from regular skips (which are dumped straight into landfill) in that they are taken to a sorting facility in Onehunga, where approximately 85% of the contents can be recycled or repurposed. Most of the material in the bins is timber, which gets chipped down and sold to a cement company for their furnace. The rest of the recyclable materials are usually metal, which can be melted, and gib board which can be re-purposed for fertiliser and road fill.
