15.10.17 - kids get a tour of the new richmond housing development

Panama Road School students were given their own personal tour of the new Richmond terraced housing development.

Eleven Year 5 and 6 students, principal Jane Dold and associate principal Elisabeth Price took the short walk from the school to Richmond where the company that is developing the site, Wilshire, gave the school group a tour.

During a fine break in the weather, Wilshire sales manager Christie Wrightson showed the group around stage one of the terraced housing development, which is almost complete, including a look at the pocket park.

"We invited the school here to show them around Richmond and welcome them into the new community that we’re really proud to be creating," said Ms Wrightson.

"The school has been part of the Mt Wellington since 1960 and, while we are a fairly new addition to the community, we are right on each other’s doorsteps and we think there are plenty of opportunities to support each other in what we’re doing.

"One of Panama Road School’s values is that they see community events as a valuable contribution to the students’ development and we’d love to share in that. We want to foster a positive, long-term relationship with the school, starting with welcoming the students in to play in our pocket parks and make new friends here."

Principal Jane Dold said: "Building relationships and working with one another is important and it’s great that our students can be included in this.

"The more we can work together to create our new community together, the better.

Now that stage one of Richmond is nearing completion, the first families are beginning to move in as stage two begins to get underway.

When completed, Richmond will consist of 600-700 homes.

30.10.17 - MEDIA RELEASE – WILSHIRE GROUP

Fresh approach to creating homes for the new Auckland set to launch

Release of Wilshire Group’s Richmond 2 Mt Wellington

Wilshire is proud to bring to Auckland its next generation of homes in their latest development – Richmond 2 in Mt Wellington.
“We are bringing a new approach to creating homes for the future growth of Auckland,” said Wilshire sales and marketing manager Christie Wrightson.

“We really have put our all into creating something special and unique for Auckland families and home buyers. All of our planning, thinking and focus has been about creating communities first, over that of just developing and selling houses.

“We have taken a people approach first and foremost. We want buyers to not only purchase from us, but come back to us when they come to buy their next homes. We believe in people and are giving them the very best when it comes to a home that is ingrained into its community, not just a house that is on a site.”

The concept was to take a site with great location and invest heavily into creating an ethos where people and community truly come first, in an area that is close to the CBD, rail and employment.

Wilshire saw the potential of the site and now that stage one is almost complete, stage two is set to begin. When completed the Richmond community will consist of 600 – 700 homes.

Years of master planning by award winning Isthmus Group means the new stages of Richmond have created some unique design principles which will make terrace homes in Richmond 2 something quite different to what Aucklanders may expect. Open spaces and pocket parks are centrally located with linkages forming a visual and physical connection to the slow speed streets. Resident traffic has been hidden away, under and behind the homes, creating a shared space above for the community to play and ride and visitor access to all front doors.

The homes themselves have been architecturally designed for the site by A Studio Architects. The 3 and 4 bedroom homes with secure undercover parking have the flexibility and spaces which you don’t normally see in a terrace home.

“The flexi-spaces that we have designed into the homes provide space which is only limited by the home owner’s imagination. They provide spaces that could suit home offices, inter-generational living, flatmates or simply additional family break out spaces.”

The parks, the hidden garaging, the pathways and the selection of trees, plants, materials all add to an amenity that supports the community feel and creates an environment where the homes’ architectural designs will be complemented.

“As part of our commitment to doing the very best for and by our home owners, we have also put the time and energy in establishing a strong Residents’ Association from the very start. The new Auckland is about creating communities where people are social and engaging and our residents association is all about that. The Residents’ Association also maintains all the grounds including front gardens right up to their front doors to ensure that the overall quality is upheld throughout the development.

Ongoing quality is important to Wilshire. All homes come with a 10-year Stamford Warranty backed by Lloyds of London.. We want to provide the certainty and the comfort that we are committed to getting things right

“Richmond 2 is different, and we here at Wilshire are different. We believe in community and providing homes in great locations to people who want to enjoy great social spaces, the security of quality and a developer of choice that is striving to be the best in New Zealand.”

“We believe in Mt Wellington’s economy and we believe in the area. And we see what many people aren’t aware of regarding the opportunity that Mt Wellington provides to people who want to work and enjoy living in a central Auckland location.

“We have taken a people approach first and foremost. We want buyers to not only purchase from us, but come back to us when they come to buy their next homes. We believe in people and are giving them the very best when it comes to a home that is ingrained into its community, not just a house that is on a site.”

Wilshire saw the potential of the site and now that stage one is almost complete, stage two is set to begin. When completed, the Richmond community will consist of 600-700 homes.

“It’s a community with one of the largest economies in the Auckland area. In fact, it is a $10b economy which is larger than Hamilton’s – New Zealand’s fourth largest city. This underpins why the area is, from a location aspect, a smart area for development,” said Ms Wrightson.

“Growing at a rate of 3.3% per annum, there are almost 100,000 jobs in the local economy. This jobs growth has remained strong since 2000. Of the 100,000 people who work in the area surrounding Richmond, just over half of them are engaged at a professional level; 50,785 people are employed as managers, professionals or technicians.

“While we have the local economy, jobs and opportunity in mind, we’re also proud to build in an area where location is ideal. Richmond is close to Auckland’s CBD and the train station, motorway and Sylvia Park are just minutes away.

“We believe in Mt Wellington, and we have a vision where we are an integral part of creating a great place within an up and coming area.”

The homes themselves have been architecturally designed for the site by A Studio Architects. The 3-4-bedroom homes with secure undercover parking have the flexibility and spaces which you don’t normally see in a terrace home.

04.08.17 - Richmond Site Blessing

Friday 4 August was a special occasion for Richmond and the Wilshire Group team. A site blessing was given by David Wilson-Takaanini of Te Ākitai Waiohua, and dirt that was taken before construction began was returned to the ground. Councillor Denise Lee was present to offer a speech of congratulations, and Wilshire had the opportunity to thank the consultants and construction teams involved in the project. A great morning was had by all. See more photos on our Facebook page.

04.08.17 - Richmond Stage 1 Progress

One of our beautiful parks is complete, and landscaping continues to go in around each home. The exterior of most blocks are complete, with the bulk of work on site taking place inside the homes.

We are extremely pleased to announce our Stage 1 show home is now open to the public. This 5 bedroom home showcases the quality of all our Richmond homes. Open daily from 11am-2pm.

27.06.17 - Richmond Stage 1 Site Progress

The scaffolding has come down on almost half the homes, giving a much better idea of how Richmond will look. The landscaping to the first pocket park continues to progress with some big trees now in; we can't wait to see the finished product.

11.04.17 - richmond stage 1 Site Progress

The latest drone footage shows workers everywhere on site. Many of the Stage 1 homes have kitchens and bathrooms being installed. The landscapers are hard at work on the street scapes, trees are going in and grass is getting rolled out.

Green Gorilla

Wilshire Group are committed to improving the sustainability of the way we build our homes. We are already using Green Gorilla bins for all site waste. These bins differ from regular skips (which are dumped straight into landfill) in that they are taken to a sorting facility in Onehunga, where approximately 85% of the contents can be recycled or repurposed. Most of the material in the bins is timber, which gets chipped down and sold to a cement company for their furnace. The rest of the recyclable materials are usually metal, which can be melted, and gib board which can be re-purposed for fertiliser and road fill. It's one small change, but we feel it's a big step in the right direction. Find out more about how Green Gorilla works here.

Stage 1 is really taking shape. The trees along the roads have been planted and the street names are up, as well as a huge amount of progress on the construction of all blocks. It's easy to imagine what it will look like once complete!

Simon Gault NIGHT

We had our drone back on site yesterday to catch the action. Roads are being laid with asphalt, framing continues to go up on Stage 1, and the earth and civil work for the later stages is well underway.

A huge thank you to Simon Gault and Smeg NZ for the cooking demonstration night. By all accounts, it was a great success! All the kitchens in Stage 1 at Richmond Auckland will be fitted out with quality Smeg appliances; we’re sure our purchasers are looking forward to using them to create their own culinary masterpieces. Check out more photos from the evening on our Richmond Facebook page .

18.10.16 - Richmond Stage 1 Site Progress

We had the drone out on site last week and there was plenty happening. All homes in Stage 1A have either framing going up or cladding going on, these homes are due for completion from March onwards next year. The team on Stage 1B are underway too with the prep work for the slabs started. And you can see Stage 2 also has the diggers on site and earthworks underway.
